New stages Florida trip #14

by | Apr 28, 2017

Another day, another challenge. For a few years ago my son wanted to swim like a merman. It was a dream of his. I was in contact with a company in florida that re routed me to a person who works with special needs people since last year. That dream came true for my son. We all flew to tampa me and my sons and I rented a car to the hotel. The next morning we woke early and drove 1 1/2 hours to the person’s house who designs the tails. It was very exciting. I made sure that my sons had a list to pack. We finally arrived after my gps lost its signal and I called the person’s house. J put on his scale leggings over his speedo suit and was instructed how to wear this swimming take that was silicone. It weighted over 10 pounds and was heavy on your feet. He learned how to swim with it on on the top of the water and then dive to over 9 feet swimming through a hoop. The first time the tail dislodged the hoop. The second time he put on the smaller tail with a fabric skin so your legs moved as one. In another life I know he was a merman. After all this work it tired it him out. But he was so happy swimming. Part of this experience of swimming like a merman was also filmed underwater along with the music playing. I have listed it under resources on my website apraxianetwork.org. Eric the mertailer also designs the tails and outfits too in any color.
