A SUMMER STORM  8/2003 JEANNE BUESSER

A NEWLY BEREAVED MEMBER LAST NIGHT HAD JUST TOLD

HIS STORY IN THE GROUP. I WAS REMINDED OF HOW I FELT

WHEN IT HAD HAPPENED TO ME NEARLY 8 YEARS AGO. IT WAS

LIKE A SUMMER STORM WITH FIERCE RELENTLESS WINDS AND A

WHIPPING RAIN AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. YOU ARE BARELY

HOLDING ON AND THE STORM PUTS ITS TOLLS ON YOUR BODY.

EMOTIONS ARE TOSSED AROUND . LIGHTNING STRIKES YOU AND

YOU HAVE A NEW WOUND. YOUR BODY IS REELING AND CANNOT

HOLD ITS GROUND. SLOWLY THE STORM SUBSIDES AND YOU ARE LEFT

TO TRY AND STAND. SLOWLY VERY SLOWLY YOU BEGIN TO

TAKE BABY STEPS AND LIFT YOUR BADLY BRUISED BODY UP.  IT WILL

TAKE A LONG TIME BUT LIKE THAT TREE YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE THAT

WOUND, BUT YOU WILL SOMEDAY GROW ROOTS AND BRANCHES. THERE WAS

ALWAYS THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE STORM WOULD RETURN
